If my memory serves me correctly, this should be the first time I've remixed a song for Halloween that, technically, has nothing to do with the celebration--but, I think it worked out anyway because Giratina is one creepy dude, and his theme is menacing as crap! Instead of straying too far from the frantic feeling the original song emanated, I actually tried my best to accentuate it by keeping up a fast tempo, accompanied with some aggressive synths and a driving bassline. As a concept for a remix, it's definitely a bit different than the usual approach I go for (which tends to be more liberal in direction when compared to the source), but I still did my typical thing where I utilized a fair amount of original ideas and melodies, of course. The section towards the middle, starting around 1:39 and ending at 2:22 is where the mix really begins to branch off from the original (both in tone and structure) and it was also subsequently the most interesting, and challenging part of the remix for me to make, lol. Fun fact, that section was alone the catalyst that led to the reason why I gave up on this one (I started it initially in January) until I picked it back up again recently. While it's a bit unfortunate I couldn't have made this sooner, I am honestly kind of glad I got stuck regardless as that gave me some time to gain a new perspective on the mix. Well, that and my mixing (while still not perfect) HAS improved since nine months ago, so that's neat. The only thing that I'm really unsure about at this point is the hard-style inspired section, but who cares at this point I suppose, hahaha. Anyway, have a happy and safe Halloween, people!
