A distal pancreatectomy is a complex surgery performed for a variety of benign and malignant conditions. Depending on the indication for the surgery, the spleen and surrounding lymph nodes may also be removed. Some of the most common indications for a distal pancreatectomy include benign neuroendocrine neoplasms, cystic neoplasms, symptomatic pancreatic pseudocysts, and pancreatic duct strictures. Additionally, the surgery may lead to several complications such as a pancreatic leak, ultimately affecting the chemotherapy results in cancer patients. Therefore, it is essential for a surgeon to stay updated and vigilant while performing a distal pancreatectomy. In this regard, Docplexus, in association with the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (IAGES), has organized an interactive International Academic Collaborative 4 session on 2nd July 2020, 5 pm onwards. In this session, experts will discuss some of the key practice essentials of distal pancreatectomy. Get all your queries answered by the experts at the end of the session.
