The route follows a mountain trail along a fast-flowing river through a narrow canyon surrounded by steep rocky slopes. One of the highlights of the hike is Bogon Waterfall — a beautiful waterfall hidden deep inside the gorge. After recent rains the water level in the river was much higher than usual. The rocky steps that are normally easy to pass had turned into powerful water cascades, making the approach to the waterfall much more difficult and unsafe. Because of the strong water flow the group decided not to climb directly to the waterfall and continued further along the canyon toward another waterfall called Pasi Kutalcha. The hike took place in excellent spring weather with blooming trees, mountain views and the sound of rushing water throughout the gorge. Hiking around Dushanbe offers many beautiful routes like this in the Varzob mountains and is a great way to experience the wild nature of Tajikistan.
