In 2019, Daniel Stewart was in the final stages of his Chemistry PhD under Professor Robert Raja at the University of Southampton. Today, along with Professor Raja, he is the co-founder of ViridiCO2, which spun-out from the University of Southampton in 2021. Now scaling their team and laboratory having raised a £3m seed round, £300,000 in grant funding and recognition from the Royal Society of Chemistry and Forbes 30 Under 30 since first meeting in Future Worlds, ViridiCO2 are making rapid progress towards their audacious goal: to play a pivotal role in achieving net zero emissions targets globally. Daniel joined Ben Clark, director of Future Worlds to reflect on the first five years of his startup journey, going from researcher to co-founder, what some of the highs and lows of scaling a startup feel like, and the incredible potential of ViridiCO2's technology to reduce carbon emissions.
