Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkin Lymphoma (NSHL) is the most common subtype of Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma, accounting for about 60-80% of cases in developed countries. Here are some key points about NSHL: Characteristics Age and Gender: NSHL most commonly affects adolescents and young adults, with a median age of onset around 28 years. It affects males and females almost equally2. Location: It often originates in lymph nodes in the chest (mediastinum), neck, and armpits. Over 50% of cases occur in the chest1. Pathology: NSHL is characterized by the presence of large cancerous cells called Reed-Sternberg cells within nodules surrounded by fibrous tissue (sclerosis). Symptoms Swollen Lymph Nodes: The most frequent symptom is painless swelling of lymph nodes in the neck, clavicle, or armpits. Other Symptoms: Fatigue, unexplained weight loss, fever, and night sweats. Diagnosis Biopsy: A lymph node biopsy is the definitive test for diagnosing NSHL. Imaging Tests: CT scans, MRIs, and PET scans may be used to determine the extent of the disease. Treatment Chemotherapy: Often used, sometimes in combination with radiation therapy. Monoclonal Antibody Therapy: Drugs like rituximab may be used. Stem Cell Transplant: Considered for advanced stages or in cases of recurrence. Prognosis Survival Rate: The prognosis for NSHL is generally very good, with a roughly 90% 5-year survival rate. Early detection and treatment significantly improve outcomes3 #Hodgkinlymphoma
