That warm feeling: the evolution of electronic design from tubes to nanotechnology

A lunchtime outreach talk by Professor Stephen Morris Department of Physics University of Toronto given at the Design Exchange in Toronto Thursday May 15th 2008, as part of the exhibit "The art of Clairtone: the making of a design icon" Abstract: No technology in the history of humanity has undergone such sweeping transformations as electronics. As part of the celebration of the Claretone stereo, this talk will examine the physics and design of audio electronics from the 1930’s to the present day. About the speaker: Stephen Morris is a professor in the Department of Physics, University of Toronto. He is a frequent public speaker and the winner of several teaching awards. He appears regularly on the Discovery Channel.
