It was built in the 1800's for the purpose of housing London's dead. It took the strain off other London cemetery's that were soon filling up. It was also known as London Necropolis and had it's own train. (known as the train of the dead or ghost train where the dead had a one way ticket taking them from Waterloo station to Brookwood there final stop.
