A great conversation for the Radical Therapist Podcast with Meera Dhebar on centering queer of color theorists in therapy. Meera Dhebar’s doctoral research focuses on how queer of colour cultural knowledge can better inform the work and education of queer of colour therapists, and of the counseling field in general. She seeks to move beyond the current frameworks of LGBT competencies and gay affirming therapy, to a practice called queer worldmaking which centers cultural knowledge, as well as queer epistemology, intersectionality and decolonial theories. Meera is a consultant, narrative therapist and clinical supervisor based in Vancouver, Canada. She provides queer intersectional supervision to individuals and teams. Meera is Associate Faculty at City University of Seattle, Vancouver Island campus in their Master of Counselling program. Her previous experience includes teaching in the school of social work at Ryerson University and University of British Columbia, and working in health care, palliative care, and the HIV/AIDS sector.
