Southern Africa remains one of the world's last megafaunal strongholds. Across the world, humans and climate change have gradually wiped out most of our planet's massive terrestrial animals, but on the wide open savannahs, we can still see rhinoceroses, hippopotamuses, elephants, giraffes and more. These animals are hugely important in maintaining their ecosystems, not to mention the fact that they're intelligent, living beings - but some people don't see it that way. The countries of southern Africa, particularly for rhinoceroses, remain some of the biggest sites for illegal poaching on the planet, reducing populations of animals to the very brink of extinction. In today's video, we will be looking into the dark world of poaching in Southern Africa, heading into a world on the edge of existence. A warning; this video will discuss cruelty to animals, and as such, viewer discretion is advised. 0:00 Introduction 1:05 A Brief History of Poaching 04:49 Rhinoceros Poaching 10:11 Elephant Poaching 14:29 Preventing Poaching 17:56 Outro Edited by Jamit Productions DISCLAIMER: All materials in these videos are used for entertainment purposes and fall within the guidelines of fair use.
