This lesson shows how to create Record of Employments using eNETEmployer. Two methods are discussed: the electronic file method for uploading to Service Canada's ROEWeb internet site; and the manual printed method. The lesson also discusses how to create an ROE in the middle of a normal pay cycle. For detailed On-line Help about this feature, visit: • http://www.enetemployer.com/help/en/d... eNETEmployer allows you to create an ROE at any time, for a variety of purposes. For example, if an employee is leaving the company, or is going on maternity or another type of leave, you can create a single ROE for just the one person. The program supports two types: • Record Of Employment (ROE) - This report contains the data required by the CRA to determine whether the employee qualifies for Employment Insurance (E.I.) benefits, how much he/she will receive, and the length of time the benefits will be paid. This report must be issued by employers within five calendar days after an employee’s interruption of earnings or the day the employer becomes aware of the interruption. To include a form layout background on the report, activate the Background cell's checkbox prior to generating the report. Note: The ROE report created here can be used as a draft and will require that you manually complete the information for Block 16: Reason for issuing this ROE. • Web Record of Employment (ROEWeb) - Similar to the Record of Employment (ROE) report described above, this report is required by the CRA for Employment Insurance (E.I.) benefit purposes. This option does not produce a printed report - rather it produces an electronic file that can be transmitted to the CRA. Note: The ROE file created here can be used as a draft and can be uploaded to the CRA's website where you can manually complete the information for Block 16: Reason for issuing this ROE. You can also create a batch of ROE's for multiple employees at one time. This might be necessary if you are changing your payroll's pay frequency, or if your company's business number is changing for some reason. In both of these cases, ROE's will need to be issued to each employee and submitted to the CRA. Typically, most payroll managers wait until the end of a pay cycle to create their ROEs. This is the standard approach where they simply assign a "Last Pay" status to the exiting employee to prevent them from being included in any subsequent payrolls. However, if your province requires that you provide the exiting employee with an ROE prior to the end of your next pay cycle, you can do so by creating an Extra pay run, so that you can pay the employee and create the corresponding ROE that includes the final payment information.
