Originally used as the anti aircraft operations facility in World War Two , it is now owned by BT as a store. Originally it was to become a War Room for Wales, taking over from Coryton, but this idea was abandoned in the late 1970's. The bunker was mothballed for over a decade until it was broken into by local vandals and in recent years has been vandalised beyond all recognition. It's an area for urban exploration as an interesting site, but the contents have since been burnt, although not by urban explorers but by the vandals that frequent the site. It was one of several Anti Aircraft Operations Rooms built between the second world war and the cold war as a part of the UK's air defences, rendered obsolete around 1956 by such charming innovations as guided missiles and the hydrogen bomb. It was converted into BT's chief war headquarters for Wales, but abandoned before the work could be completed. The site is now gutted by fire, flaking and peeling with visible burn marks. It's a shame about the current condition but it must've looked spectacular before it was burnt #urbex #urbexuk #military #worldwar2 #antiaircraft #cardiff #wales #adventure #bunker
