After a restoration process of over 4 years Hagar (Swedish Railcar Luggage Carriage) is now finally complete. I have been following the restoration process at Overton yard from 2018 and have watched the carriage turn from a rusting shell into a beautiful pristine carriage. The team at Overton should be very proud of themselves being able to pull off such a restoration like this only having just a shipping container as a workshop and a large workbench outside. The Ferry Meadow Festival 13th,14th & 15th May 2022 saw Hagar being used for passenger duties for the first time since restoration. It ran a free shuttle service form Peterborough Nene Valley to Overton For Ferry Meadows via Orton Mere. This ran from around 10am to 10pm. There was also three main steam hauled services departing Wansford at 10:00, 12:00 & 14:00 to Yarwell and then back towards Peterborough Nene Valley. The Overton miniature railway was in use as well as the Ferry Meadows Miniature Railway which was running both 'Charles' diesel powered steam loco and their two diesel powered trams 'George' & 'Charlotte' which was a nice surprise for me as I haven't seem them running in the flesh before; just hiding in the back of the shed normally. I would like to thank all the volunteers at Overton yard restoring all these beautiful pieces of history, thank you to the youth group as well, thank you to all the volunteers at Ferry Meadow Festival helping people out with crossing the road, directions, etc. Thank you to Ferry Meadows for putting on such a spectacular festival for FREE, you brought so much joy to so many people and I hope it helps put Ferry Meadows on the map as it is certainly my favourite place to visit in the world.
