As with most things we explain on this channel, there is no one reason for this to happen. Loosening of the implant can happen due to multiple reasons. First of all, the quickest reason for your implant to become loose is the improper fitting of either the cup or stem at the implant. This kind of looseness becomes visible within 6 months to 1 year. Secondly, your implant has the risk of becoming loose if the implant quality is inherently poor. This poor quality prevents your body from assimilating the implant and over time it becomes loose. Thirdly, if your implant has either a metal head, it can erode the plastic cup over time. This is why we use ceramic heads, as it is less abrasive. We also use highly cross-linked polyethylene and never regular plastic. We hope you found this video educational.
