Today we made KFT — Kentucky Fried Tofu — a plant-based twist inspired by those classic KFC flavours, but healthier, cheaper, and 100% whole food plant-based! Paul created a marinade and seasoning blend using all the herbs and spices you’d expect from a crispy chicken recipe… but with tofu instead of chicken. We air-fried the tofu until perfectly golden and crunchy (you can bake it too), then made insanely delicious wraps. This is one of the crispiest, most flavour-packed tofu recipes we’ve ever made — and it tastes like comfort food without all the unhealthy ingredients or the cost. 11 Herbs and Spices: Salt: ⅔ teaspoon Thyme: ½ teaspoon Basil: ½ teaspoon Oregano: ⅓ teaspoon Celery salt: 1 teaspoon Black pepper: 1 teaspoon Dried mustard: 1 teaspoon Paprika: 4 teaspoons Garlic salt: 2 teaspoons Ground ginger: 1 teaspoon White pepper: 3 teaspoons Add all spices to a jar and mix together. Now take 6 tsp of seasoning and add to a container that’s large enough to hold the marinade and a block of tofu. Add 4 tablespoons of oil and 4 tablespoons of water and mix well. Take your thawed, previously frozen, tofu and drain all water from it. Squeeze out as much water as possible, as you want to act like a sponge. Now place your tofu block into the container that has the spices, water, and oil and push down on one side so it will absorb the marinade. Flip it over and repeat. Sprinkle a few teaspoons of spice mixture on top. Now it’s ready to bake ir airfry. Airfry on 350 degrees for 30 min or until super crispy. If not using a rotisserie, flip tofu halfway through. Same with baking in an oven. Heat to 400 degrees and bake for 30 min or until crispy and flip halfway through. Serve on a wrap with mayo, lettuce, to tomatoes and even your fav pickles or banana peppers!
