Our cameras do not typically perceive colors as we humans do. That can make captured images look more lackluster or different than we experienced or remembered them in person. There is a way to correct that in Photoshop. The LAB color space (or, color model) is based on reinvigorating or correcting bland colors based on the principles of human vision. It offers the widest color gamut (i.e., range of colors - real and "imaginary"); wider than either RGB or CMYK. It's possible to work with the LAB color mode to boost dull or listless colors in Photoshop. That is the focus of this video workshop. In this video I'll cover the following: Introduce the LAB color space (at a high level), considerations for working with it & mention briefly how it's differentiated from RGB and CMYK; Describe the types of images best suited to working with LAB to boost colors; and Walk through two step x step demos (one portrait, one landscape) showing how to enhance colors using Photoshop's LAB color mode. In the second demo, I'll also demonstrate a color-independent method to perform sharpening using the LAB "L" channel.
