Turning a Green Oak Fishing Hand Reel

Recently I came across some English Oak that had been cut up by a local arborist. I brought home a car load of rounds, mostly to start collecting firewood for next winter, but also to see what I could make of some of it. I've been too impatient and I couldn't wait for it to dry so I've turned up this small hand reel for fishing along with another one for my son so we can take them along over summer to Tasmania and wet a line as we travel around. they have been turned green so it has been interesting to see how much deformation we're getting as they dry, it's not been too bad so far and I haven't seen any cracking forming.... yet :) Also you can tell it's Movember still too!!
