#Chips #manufacturing Chips are everywhere! Our lives are surrounded by chips when we drive our cars, play games on mobile phones or gaming consoles, work on PCs or work in any industrial facility. Recently Wall Street Journal published an interview of Intel CEO Patrick Gelsinger. I took away the following 3 things from the interview: 1. Geographical rebalance for manufacturing - As companies shipped jobs overseas to make more cost competitive product, it also shipped away technological know-how and skillset along with jobs. Chips Act is expected to subsidize bringing back manufacturing to western countries. 2. Geopolitics and security of supply chain - Truth be told - this was never top of mind when folks moved jobs overseas for "additional" profits. Normal people will now foot the bill to bring back manufacturing to provide security by using tax payer money! Where are the shareholders? We are still shipping other jobs overseas ....should there be an oversight of jobs moving overseas? 3. Unlimited growth and competitiveness for the sake of competitiveness may not be good over the long term
