You know that barefooted and free feeling you had as a kid? Welcome it back when you walk (or run) through the giant sunflowers at Grinter’s Sunflower Farm in Lawrence, Kan. The family farm boasts 40 acres of sunflowers, which were originally raised for bird seed, but have since become a favorite attraction for both locals and visitors of the Sunflower State. The sunflowers usually bloom around Labor Day and last for a couple weeks. Be sure to bring your camera, water, sunscreen and a hat. While you’re visiting, make plans to stop by local goods and bake shop Sunflower General to pick up one of their famous cinnamon rolls! Grinter’s Sunflower Farm is free to visit! While taking a sunflower home with you is discouraged, they ask for a $1 donation for each sunflower cut - if you just can’t live without a souvenir. There are donation tubes near the parking lots adjacent to the fields. Friendly dogs on a leash are welcome; please be sure to pick up after your pets. Portable restrooms are located at Sunflower General. For more information, check out these resources: http://www.kansastravel.org/lawrence/... https://www.explorelawrence.com/thing...
