3rd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment (3RCR) delivered the Close Quarter Combat – Basic, course. This course challenges students to their mental and physical limits, preparing them to operate effectively in high-stress, close-range combat environments. Throughout the course, students develop and apply critical technical skills in tactical movement, defensive and offensive techniques, control and restraint, weapon retention, bayonet fighting and non-lethal force—all grounded in a solid understanding of the Use of Force Continuum. These skills are rigorously tested in a series of escalating scenario-based exercises that simulate real-world combat and operational conditions. The culminating scenario challenges students to integrate their training under pressure, making rapid decisions while applying force proportionately and within legal and ethical parameters. It's a test of judgment, discipline, and combat effectiveness—designed not just to train, but to transform candidates into more capable, confident, and professional infantry soldiers . This is more than a course. It’s our profession.
