Free Esprit- CAM Tutorials - FREE CNC Machining Tutorials. Hello Everyone, in this video you will learn how to create custom tool in Esprit Cam. Sometimes you need to create a tool but none of the existing ESPRIT tool types match the shape of the tool. In that case custom tools let you use a geometric profile to define the shape of the tool. Custom tools can also be used when you need to use a length compensation other than the tip of the tool. To create a custom milling tool, use the following steps: 1. Create geometry that matches the revolution profile of the tool. The geometry must be a continuous chain of elements with no gaps or overlaps. 2. Draw geometry relative to P0 (the origin point), P0 being the drive point of the tool. The Y-axis is the revolution axis of the tool geometry. 3. Once you have finished drawing the tool profile, select the whole profile geometry (and nothing else). 4. On the File menu, select Save As and set Save As Type to Tool Geometry Files. Make a note of the name and directory under which you store the .ect file. 5. On the Machining menu, select Milling Tools and then select Custom Mill. 6. On the Geometry page, select Browse to retrieve the stored .ect file and define the geometry settings. The tool geometry displays in the preview window. 7. Fill in the other tool properties and click Ok. The tool is created. Note 1: If the profile is an open chain, it must start on the Y-axis and end on the Y-axis. If the profile is a closed chain, it must not cross the Y-axis. Note 2: Only the grouped geometry is stored as a Tool Geometry File. Any other elements are ignored. When working on a file, instead of creating a new file for a custom geometry you can create the custom tool geometry in a new layer. It would let you hide the geometry after the tool has been created. ** SEE THE COMPLETE FREE COURSE ** Keep the learning process going on through online and get the chance to update your working Skill. ** SUBSCRIBE MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL ** / @anymechanicalsolutions So learn & Explore with me.
