Tanah Papua dan Maluku menjadi istimewa, karena wilayah ini memiliki keragaman habitat yang luar biasa. Hutan dan pegunungan di Tanah Papua menjadi habitat bagi beragam spesies unik seperti cenderawasih, burung nuri, dan spesies burung unik lainnya. Keragaman ekosistem dan habitat menyebabkan spesies burung termasuk cenderawasih juga beragam.
