@AMJ #amj #amjtravel Did you know Soap Lake is a unique mineral lake, world-renowned as “nature’s spa.” One of only two similar lakes in the world, its waters have the most diverse mineral content of any body of water on Earth–it has been called “healing water”. Visitors travel from around the world to enjoy year-round mineral baths in the comfort of our guest rooms! Instead of responding to each individual comment, we have decided to post an edit of answers to the most frequently asked questions thus far. Where are we located? We are in the heart of Grant County, Soap Lake, WA about a 30 minute drive from I-90. 2.5 hours from Seattle, WA on the east side of the Cascade mountains. What is Soap Lake Mud? The mud seen here spread on people is actually a very concentrated form of minerals. Part of the experience of visiting Soap Lake is to walk the shallow waters to about your knees or higher, digging to underneath the sandy/sediment layer and grabbing a chunk of smooth, lotiony, black mud- rubbing it all over and then letting it dry. Once dried, you then rinse it off in either the lake or the outdoor showers provided. Added benefits to soaking in just the water. As a side note, the "green" mud is duck poop and it is not recommended for use. Also, drinking the water is not recommended either. "Soap Lake has given me a rash and it burns!" Yes, unfortunately everyone reacts to the highly acidic mineral content differently. We recommend, sticking your feet in first and treading slowly until you know how you will react. To avoid swimmers itch or rash, it is recommended to shower immediately. There is no sewage in this water other than the bird poop LOL. The water levels of Soap Lake are currently in decline because the Department of Ecology has allowed the farming irrigation systems to drain the lake exponentially during drought season. We currently have a petition in the office to sign up to stop this! There are other reasons for the declining water but this is the major one. Come pick up a brochure today. I hope this helps answers some questions and we look forward to seeing all your faces in the coming seasons!
