Here's how to make cinder block bookshelves that actually look good. Concrete block book cases are usually ugly utilitarian shelves for poor people and dorm rooms... but I built some that look pretty darn good, considering their humble origins. Just get some 2 x 8 boards and some cinder blocks, then go to town. A few hours and you'll have some cheap bookshelves that look like they were made by a Bauhaus designer.
