In this Dhamma talk on the “Sukha Sutta” (Happiness Sutta) from the teachings of the Gautama Buddha, we explore the Buddha’s profound insight into vedanā (feeling)—pleasant, painful, and neutral sensations—and how mindful awareness of these experiences can lead to freedom from craving and suffering. Drawing on the practice of Vedanānupassanā in the Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta and the teaching of Dependent Origination, this reflection shows how observing feelings as simply arising and passing (“phussa phussa vayaṁ passaṁ”) allows us to loosen attachment and gradually develop virāga (detachment). Through meditation, ethical living, and careful observation of experience, we learn to see feelings clearly, break the habitual chain from contact to craving, and cultivate wisdom on the path to liberation. This talk is especially helpful for anyone interested in Buddhist meditation, mindfulness of feeling, the Buddha’s original teachings, and practical insight practice in Theravāda Buddhism. #Buddhism, #BuddhistMeditation, #Vedanā, #Satipatthana, #Mindfulness, #BuddhaTeachings, #Theravada, #InsightMeditation, #Vipassana, #Dhamma
