Christian Teilman : Strømnes-marschen

The Norwegian composer Christian Teilman (1843-1909) was from a family with Danish origins. He was born six weeks after Grieg, and outlived him by two years - but unlike his contemporary he is forgotten, at least outside Norway. In his lifetime he was apparently a household name there, and wrote a lot of dance and special-occasion music, as well as an operetta. His piano music is often reminiscent of Grieg, and this piece is no exception. Published in 1908, it is an arrangement of an 18th century folk melody played by the great Norwegian violinist Ole Bull (featured in my thumbnail).
