🍅 Tamatar Wala Upma (Tomato Upma) – Detailed Recipe Tamatar wala upma is a tangy and flavorful twist on traditional South Indian upma. The juicy tomatoes give a nice color and slight sour taste that makes it perfect for breakfast or evening snacks. --- 📝 Ingredients (Serves 3–4) 1 cup *Rava / Sooji (Semolina)* 2 medium *Tomatoes* (finely chopped) 1 medium *Onion* (finely chopped) 1–2 *Green chilies* (chopped) 1 tsp *Mustard seeds* 1 tsp *Urad dal* 1 tsp *Chana dal* 8–10 *Curry leaves* 2 tbsp *Oil or Ghee* 2½ cups *Water* ¼ tsp *Turmeric powder* Salt to taste 1 tbsp *Lemon juice* (optional) 2 tbsp *Fresh coriander leaves* (chopped) --- 👩🍳 Preparation Steps #### 1️⃣ Roast the Rava Heat a pan on low flame. Dry roast the rava for 4–5 minutes until light aromatic (do not brown). Remove and keep aside. #### 2️⃣ Prepare the Tempering Heat oil or ghee in a kadai. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add urad dal & chana dal, fry until light golden. Add curry leaves and green chilies. #### 3️⃣ Cook Onion & Tomato Add chopped onion and sauté until soft. Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric, and salt. Cook until tomatoes become soft and slightly mushy. #### 4️⃣ Add Water Add 2½ cups water and bring it to a rolling boil. Taste and adjust salt. #### 5️⃣ Add Rava Lower the flame. Slowly add roasted rava while stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Mix well. #### 6️⃣ Cook the Upma Cover and cook on low flame for 3–4 minutes. Stir once in between. When water is absorbed and upma becomes fluffy, switch off the flame. #### 7️⃣ Final Touch Add lemon juice (optional).
