This video features a brand new recording of my original cinematic instrumental guitar song "As Time Goes By" GEAR All the guitar parts were played on my 2019 #IbanezGuitars RG5120M guitar. For effects, I used my #XoticEffects EP Boost pedal straight into my #SynergyAmps Soldano SLO preamp module. I used the lower gain blue channel for the first half of the song, and the higher gain red channel for the last half. Pretty much all of the dials were set at noon or one o'clock. The preamp is running through my old Marshall Valvestate 8008 power amp in Valvestate mode. From there, the amp output goes into my Two Notes Audio Torpedo Captor X reactive load and speaker cabinet simulator, which attenuates the volume coming out of my Mesa Boogie oversized 4x12 Rectifier cabinet and also connects to my Focusrite Clarett 8Pre recording interface using an impulse response captured from the same model Mesa Boogie 4x12 cabinet. The chorus, delay, and reverb effects were added in Logic Pro. Here are the specs on my Ibanez RG5120M: Make: Ibanez Model: RG5120M Finish: Frozen Ocean Body: African Mahogany Pickups: Fishman Fluence Modern Ceramic Neck: 5 piece Maple + Wenge Super Wizard HP Fretboard: 24 fret Birdseye Maple Year: 2019 THE SONG The original version of "As Time Goes By" is from my 2017 album "Juxtaposition", but I am currently working on a brand new re-recorded version of the entire album that includes new versions of all the original songs from the album, complete with transcriptions and backing tracks. The project is almost complete, and will be available in autumn 2021. This song started out with the simple classical-influenced piano chords, and the austere and lonely sound of the piano made me reflect on the passage of time. For the rhythm guitars, I played 2 different guitars: panned to the far left is my 1988 Yngwie Malmsteen signature Fender Stratocaster tuned to D-standard (D-G-C-F-A-D) through my ENGL Savage preamp module, and panned to the far right is my wife's Ibanez RG421QM in standard tuning through my Synergy 800 preamp module. I also played fretless bass on this song, using my 1994 Ibanez SR400FL 4-string fretless bass and processed the direct signal with the Neural DSP Dark Glass plugin.
