Just in time to start thinking about summer, sail with us as we reach the pristine and warm waters of Prideaux Haven and Pendrell Sound in the third episode of the Desolation Sound series. Ok, so not a lot of actual sailing but a lot of fun having out with our friends, spending a lot of time IN the water and exploring around in perfect weather. We find the ideal stern-tie off Paige Islet (only in good weather) and have a little mishap with oyster upon anchoring in Pendrell sound (it wouldn't be a trip without one); and we're not any luckier at shrimping than in previous episodes but we do ok with fish. Alec takes a shot at narrating the video, it's an upgrade... In the next episode, we'll start making our way down across the strait of Georgia to the Gulf Islands. if haven't caught those yet, check out the first leg of our trip from Seattle to Silva Bay in the gulf islands • Sailing Pardon My French: Desolation ... and the second from Silva Bay to Cortes Island in the Desolation Sound area • Sailing Pardon My French: Desolation ... Each year, my son and I get away from it all with a few weeks on our sailboat for a father-and-son trip to British Columbia, the ultimate Pacific Northwest sailor's playground. This year in July and August 2015, we push to Desolation Sound, BC about 200nm of Seattle, past Vancouver. We discover pristine anchorages, 77º waters and hang out with great friends.
