How to Add Black Borders in Photoshop for ZAPP®

The minimum requirement for uploading an image to ZAPP® is 1400 pixels on the longest side. If your images are too small, this video will show you how to add black borders to your image using Photoshop so that you may meet the system requirements for uploading. Please see below for full audio transcript. Hi there! Welcome to ZAPP. In this video will go over how to use Photoshop to edit smaller images that don’t meet ZAPP® size requirements. If you need to size your images down please check-out our other video How to Edit Images in Photoshop for ZAPP. Images must be at least 1400 pixels on the longest side to be used for an application on ZAPP. If your images are too small and you don’t have larger images, you can add black borders around your images so that they meet this requirement. Open your image in Photoshop. Select image from the top menu bar. Go down to Resize and select canvas size. A new window will appear that will display the size of the canvas in inches; change this to pixels. Adjust the width and height to 1400 pixels. Be sure that the canvas extension color is set to black. Select ok. From there you will want to go File--Save As, so you can save the newly sized image. Be sure that you are saving your image as a JPEG. We recommend using an sRGB color space, which you can check here (show color option in save as box). You should change the name of your file so you won’t confuse it with your original image. Remember to save the image where you can easily locate it. After you have saved your image, you should be able to upload the image to the My Portfolio section.
