Steve Kay says that Mbe Omukhasi is a loose translation to mean Give me my wife in Luhya specifically the Bukusu dialect. This is a wedding song packaged as a new Luhya Pop Genre of music that fuses traditional Luhya style with Modern Popular genres. This was then arranged by Dr. Elijah Adongo for the Mighty Kenyatta University Students choir in the 94th Kenya Music Festivals held this year at Eldoret in the Zinazovuma class. Zinazovuma is a new class seeking to incorporate popular music in the festivals and branched from the Zilizopendwa class. This song is special to us because it was arranged overnight by Dr. Elijah Adongo, taught in one session of 3 hours to perfection in all performance aspects and won a trophy in the Zinazovuma class at the KMF. This is why the audience is mesmerized by the unfolding events in the music and join in the celebration in a traditional Kenyan style of enjoying music, Enjoy Mbe Omukhasi Arrangement and the Kenyan tradition of a wedding ceremony.
