A River Rock Lapidary Project

I found this rock on the local river a couple of summers ago. I took it to the Rock saw to cut a few slabs off. Life happens. Sometimes, projects get put on hold. I lost the smaller piece under the bed. Anyway, this rock has wood characteristics. I deduced that this piece is part of a tree that has become fossilized. This rock is not typical of the standard run of the mill petrified wood I find. I would consider this piece more of a gem quality stone. For this reason, it has become a lapidary project. I enjoy rockhounding, and this fits the bill of a worthy specimen to take home and cut, shape and polish. thanks for checking out the channel.
