Join me for an unprecedented, GPS-tracked, uninterrupted walking tour of all 4 Concourses and 7 Exits at the newly-revamped Central Station in Sydney, Australia. We'll start at the Grand Concourse, which connects to Exit 1 (Main Entrance) and Exit 2 (Eddy Avenue Light Rail). Next, we'll explore the new Northern Concourse, opened in May 2023, which links to Exit 3 (Eddy Avenue) and Exit 4 (Elizabeth Street). From there, we'll enter the North-South Concourse, launched in April 2023, where passengers can access the new Sydney City Metro Line, which opened in August 2024. Our journey continues to the Central Walk Concourse, where for the first time in the station's 118-year history, escalator access is provided to the majority of Sydney’s suburban train platforms. This leads us to Exit 5 (Chalmers Street Light Rail). We'll then move towards the Southern Concourse, connecting to Exit 6 (Devonshire Street) and Exit 7 (Railway Square). Along the way, we’ll explore a couple of platforms to showcase how the various Concourses are seamlessly-connected. This is the ultimate walking tour for anyone keen to familiarise themselves with the layout of Sydney’s Central Station in 2024. Enjoy! The original station opened in 1855 at a different location, serving as the terminus for the Sydney–Parramatta line, which was the first railway in New South Wales. As the city grew, the need for a larger, more modern facility became clear, and in 1906, the current Central Station officially opened. Designed in a grand Federation/Edwardian style, the station was built to handle the rapidly increasing passenger traffic and featured an impressive concourse, clock tower, and extensive platforms. Over the decades, it became a central node connecting suburban, intercity, and regional rail services across New South Wales. Throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, Central Station has undergone numerous upgrades and renovations to meet the demands of a modern city. Major refurbishments have included the installation of modern ticketing systems, accessibility improvements like elevators and ramps, and expansion of platforms to accommodate more trains. In recent years, renovations have focused on preserving the station’s historic architecture while modernizing facilities, including updates to the concourse, new lighting, and improved commuter amenities. Today, Central Station remains not just a vital transport hub but also a heritage landmark, blending Sydney’s rich railway history with the needs of a modern bustling city. ▶ My socials Instagram: / col_jung Blog: / col-jung X: / col_jung Work: / @col_builds Investing: / @col_invests Gaming: / @col_loads Films: / @col_shoots Hotels: / @col_travels Gear: / @col_reviews ▶ Music The Long Retreat" by Birocratic (http://birocratic.lnk.to/allYL) ▶ Walking Rewards I earn money on two apps making walking videos: https://stepn.com https://stepngo.com #walking #travel #sydney
