Bruce Zou sends Midnight Express V14

On April 3rd 2019 I witnessed Bruce Zou flawlessly climb Midnight Express V14 his first of the grade. Midnight Express is a classic Boulder Canyon line originally established by Ty Landman. This boulder hasn't seen many repeats over the years and is considered to be a benchmark of the grade in Colorado. Midnight Express V14 requires an extreme amount of tension, power, precision and dedication. Bruce moved to America from a rural place in China when he was 26 years old. He came here to pursue his PHD in Mechanical Engineering at C.U. Boulder. He found climbing and decided he would dedicate the small amount of free time he had to the sport. After 5 years Bruce has acquired his PHD and has climbed V14. Both of these accomplishments individually are amazing and inspiring. The fact that Bruce was capable of focusing and excelling at both is unbelievable. Bruce is absolutely the hardest working and most dedicated person I know. He has lived a life many of us couldn't even imagine yet has no excuses or complaints. He is filled with positivity, charisma and enthusiasm. We could all learn something from Bruce. I am super happy for all his success and I can't wait to see what else he is capable of. Congrats Bruce!
