🔧 Rear Brake Parts & Tools – 2019–2024 Porsche Cayenne ⚠️ Important Note: I highly recommend calling FCP Euro and verifying all parts using your VIN before ordering. They caught several mistakes for me and saved a lot of time. I have no affiliation with them and this video is not sponsored. ✅ Required Parts(You cannot complete the job without these) Rear Brake Pads (1 set) 👉 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/pors... • Must match your specific brake option (Base, S, GTS, Turbo, etc.) Rear Brake Rotors (Left & Right) 👉 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/pors... • Always replaced as a pair on the same axle Rear Brake Wear Sensors (2 total) 👉 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/pors... • Two sensors per axle • You will need 2 for the rear and 2 for the front if doing all brakes Brake Pad Spring Clips (2) 👉 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/pors... Rotor Set Screws (4) 👉 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vw-b... Rear Caliper Bolts (4) 👉 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vw-d... 🧰 Required Tools (You will not be able to complete the job properly without these) Electronic Parking Brake Service Tool (OBD Scan Tool) 👉 https://amzn.to/3ZOXOQ6 • Required to place the rear electronic parking brake into service mode Brake Caliper Piston Compression Tool 👉 https://amzn.to/45N7YnW • Required to retract the rear caliper pistons safely Torque Wrench (Low Torque for Rotor Set Screws) 👉 https://amzn.to/4a9L3V7 • Ideal for small fasteners like rotor screws Torque Wrench (Higher Torque for Carrier Bolts & Wheel Bolts) 👉 https://amzn.to/3ZOYoNM • Used for caliper carrier bolts and wheel lug bolts 3-Ton Floor Jack 👉 https://amzn.to/4qZwvyN Jack Stands (Pair) 👉 https://amzn.to/3ZfjMf9 • Always support the vehicle with jack stands, never a jack alone Jack Pads (Porsche Lift Points) 👉 https://amzn.to/4rwjyMu • Prevents damage to factory jack points Wire Brush (Hub Cleaning) 👉 https://amzn.to/3NZ7lS6 • Critical for preventing rotor vibration Rotor Thickness Measuring Tool 👉 https://amzn.to/4kfI1Do • Useful for confirming wear and minimum thickness Rubber Mallet 👉 https://amzn.to/4kfI1Do • Used to free stuck rotors without damaging components • Note: Same link as above if you’re using a multi-tool option ------------ 🧴 Strongly Recommended Consumables (Practically required) High-Temperature Brake Caliper Grease 👉 https://amzn.to/4adzNY1 Brake Cleaner Spray 👉 https://amzn.to/3MpihrJ • Best purchased locally if possible Anti-Seize Compound (Hub Face) 👉 https://amzn.to/4ruN3ya 📌 Notes Worth Calling Out • Rear brake pads and rotors must always be replaced in pairs on the same axle • Only two rear brake wear sensors were used, but a fault anywhere can trigger a warning, so check front brakes too if light doesn't go out after replacing rear brake sensors. • Parts vary by trim and brake package, so always confirm fitment by VIN before ordering ------------- 🔩 Rear Brake Torque Specs 2019–2024 Porsche Cayenne (Rear Brakes) Rear Wheel Bolts Torque: 118 ft-lb (≈ 160 Nm). Torque with vehicle on the ground Clean, dry threads only No anti-seize on wheel bolts Rear Caliper Guide Bolts (Caliper to Carrier) Torque: 35 Nm (26 ft-lb) Typically M8 bolts Do not over-torque. Rear Brake Rotor Set Screws Torque: 12 Nm (9 ft-lb) Just snug. These only hold the rotor in place during assembly Over-torquing can snap the screw ⚠️ Brake Package Variations (Important) Torque specs above apply to: Base S GTS Turbo However: Rotor sizes, Pad shape, Caliper design, do vary by trim and option Always verify: Brake option code, Rotor diameter, Pad type using your VIN before ordering parts ---- Bedding in Procedure: “Step 1: Moderate stops Accelerate to about 40–45 mph Brake firmly down to about 10 mph Do 6–8 stops Do not lock the brakes or trigger ABS Accelerate again right away after each stop Purpose: Transfers an even layer of pad material onto the rotors. Step 2: Stronger stops Accelerate to about 60–65 mph Brake hard down to about 10 mph Do 3–5 stops Again, no ABS if possible Purpose: Brings the pads and rotors up to proper operating temperature. Step 3: Cool-down drive Drive for 10–15 minutes at highway speed Use brakes as little as possible No hard braking No sitting still with your foot on the brake Purpose: Allows pads and rotors to cool evenly and prevents pad imprinting. After bedding Avoid aggressive braking for the first 100–200 miles Expect some smell or light smoke during bedding. That’s normal. Pedal feel should improve as the pads finish curing. --- Rear Rotor Minimum Thickness (2020 Cayenne): Base / S: 30.0 mm GTS / Turbo: 32.0 mm PSCB: Use value stamped on rotor (do not resurface) As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
