Abume, 15th February 2024 - In a remarkable display of compassion and solidarity, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, the King of the Akuapems, sent a high-profile delegation to Abume, a town near Akosombo, to extend his support to the community that has been grappling with the aftermath of the Volta River spillage from the Akosombo Dam. Abume, although one of the affected towns by the spillage, had been somewhat overlooked by many due to its location. Recognizing the plight of the people and the challenges they faced, the Okuapehene deemed it necessary to reach out and provide assistance to the residents of Abume. The delegation, led by the Nifahene of Akuapem, Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V, who also holds the title of the Chief of Adukrom, included Apiredihene Okogyeahene Saforo Okoampa, chiefs from the Gyase Division, chiefs from the Nifa Division, and Ankobeafo from the Okuapehene's palace. The event unfolded at the Abume chief's palace, where the King's delegation conveyed heartfelt condolences and assured the community of Akuapem's unwavering support during these challenging times. Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V expressed the King's deep concern for the welfare of Abume's residents and emphasized the need for collective efforts in rebuilding and rehabilitation. In his address, Nifahene Ababio V underscored the importance of unity among Akuapem communities, emphasizing that the King's gesture was a testament to the strong bonds that tie the people together. He highlighted the significance of standing together during crises and assured the residents of Abume that they were not alone in their struggle for recovery. The delegation also pledged material and financial assistance to aid in the reconstruction and recovery efforts in Abume. This act of kindness and support from the King of Akuapem has not only brought relief to the affected community but has also set a precedent for communal solidarity during times of adversity. As the delegation concluded their visit, the King's representatives expressed optimism that the assistance provided would contribute significantly to the restoration of normalcy in Abume, echoing the sentiment that, together, the Akuapem people will overcome the challenges posed by the Akosombo Dam spillage. #akosombodamspillage
