Keitel approved notorious directives such as the Night and Fog, Commissar, and Commando Orders, and remained loyal even after the failed July 20 plot, overseeing further purges. Captured at war’s end, he was tried at the Nuremberg Trials, convicted on all major counts, and executed by hanging on 16 October 1946—an end befitting a career defined by blind obedience and complicity in atrocity.
