This video explains how to reduce the trigger pull weight on the Howa 1500 HACT trigger to less than the minimum factory setting. After performing this adjustment, ensure that you make up the action to the stock, cycle the bolt to cock (chamber empty) and slam the butt of your rifle against the bench hard to ensure that jarring the rifle will not cause the sear to drop and rifle to fire. After reducing the length of the actuator spring it may be possible to back out the tension screw such that the actuator will not engage the sear when the bolt is cycled. Observe the position of the actuator (through the observation hole in the trigger housing) as the tension screw is tightened until there is positive force from the spring to the actuator such that when the bolt is cycled there is positive engagement between the actuator and sear.
