Norris Castle on the Isle of Wight is a late-18th-century villa. it was designed in a Gothic Revival style by architect James Wyatt for Lord Henry Seymour, who bought a small farm at Norris in 1795 and transformed it into a grand seaside estate overlooking the Solent. Built between around 1799 and 1804, the castellated residence and its model farm were set within extensive landscaped parkland. Throughout the 19th century the estate saw frequent royal attention from visits by the future George IV and by the young Princess Victoria with her mother and later became associated with figures such as the Duke of Bedford; Kaiser Wilhelm, Victoria’s grandson, was also a guest. Over time the property passed through numerous private owners, served as billets for Canadian troops in World War II, and later opened briefly to the public. Today Norris Castle is a Grade I listed building with its park the Isle of Wight’s only Grade I listed landscape, but it has suffered years of neglect and remains closed pending restoration. It is now back up for sale and could be your for £4.5 million.
