The genus Lomatium, commonly known as desert parsleys, are abundant in dry shrub-steppe habitats across north-central and eastern Washington but separating them can take advanced identification skills. In this video I highlight three common, easily identified species, and use them to illustrate a few of the unique strategies found in this widespread genus. The three flowers in this video are fern-leaved desert-parsley, Lomatium dissectum; swale desert-parsley, Lomatium ambiguum; and barestem desert-parsley, Lomatium nudicaule. This video is part of an ongoing series of videos on the common flowers of the Methow Valley, which has branched off into another series about my explorations and musings as a naturalist. As always, I appreciate and look forward to your comments, follows, suggestions, and shared experiences. Your feedback and support are what keep this channel going.
