You've seen them a million times, Dandelions and Sunflowers. But did you know they're actually made of hundreds of tiny flowers? I didn't either until I took Plant Taxonomy in college. :) Asteraceae (The Aster/Sunflower family) is the largest plant family in the world (maybe Orchidaceae is bigger?) in terms of numbers of species. Also known as Compositae because of their composite flowers. There's lots more Asteraceae weirdness I haven't covered here, this is just a starter. :) But once you can recognize a head inflorescence it's easy to find lots of members of the Aster family.
