This video has been UPDATED. Please go to • the3DUtility #11 - PSSAG - Pole Spotting &... . PSSAG, utilizing plain vanilla AutoCAD, provides a graphical method for spotting power line poles based on conductor sag. Conductor sag is modelled on a true catenary curve based on information derived from conductor sag programs such as Southwire® Sag10® and PLS-CADD™. The User can easily define up to four structure types based on conductor attachment distance from the top of the pole. Conductors are defined by their Catenary Constant derived from their design tension and weight per foot. While the designer can manually place poles on the centerline profile, PSSAG includes Auto design features that greatly simplify the process. Thus the designer has both ease of use but can also exercise his/her engineering experience to developed constructable and economic projects. For more details on the PSSAG program visit https://www.the3dutility.com/pssag.html. PSSAG is not a structural design program and should be implemented along with design for such items as transverse pole loading, insulator swing, conductor blowout and vertical loading for pole buckling and crossarm and attachment overloading. If you are familiar with AutoCAD, you can easily integrate PSSAG in your design process. However, the program utilizes MS VBA for AutoCAD and can only be used with MS Windows.
