American Society of Plastic Surgeons Calls to Stop Gender Surgeries on Minors | EWTN News Nightly

In June, the American College of Pediatricians officially called on all medical institutions to stop harmful gender transition medication and surgeries for minors, urging them to treat the mental health of those suffering with gender dysphoria. Dr. André Van Mol, MD, board-certified family physician says, "Gender dysphoria is a diagnosis. Transgenderism is an ideology. The natural course of dysphoria conservatively in 85% of cases unless it is affirmed." Doctors and medical professional from more than 50 countries signed the Doctors Protecting Children Declaration. President of the Plastic Surgery Foundation, which serves as the research arm of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Scot Bradley Glasberg, joins to explain what in his research or data led the ASPS to this decision. Dr. Scot shares whether his group experienced any kind of outside or inside political and social pressure to arrive at a particular decision. One statement that jumped out in the press release was this notion of "considerable uncertainty" associated with these interventions.
