This timely session featured the following: A legislative update on the Capitol Hill standoff to re-open the federal government. A timely panel discussion on the impact of the recent successful district court decision in Rhode Island Latino Arts, Theatre Communications Group v. National Endowment for the Arts with ACLU Coordinating Counsel Lynette Labinger and Theatre Communications Group Advocacy & Governance Programs Lead Erica Lauren Ortiz. An interview and presentation by Alliance for Justice Bolder Advocacy Program Director Natalie Roetzel Ossenfort to discuss their newly launched program Nonprofit Legal Defense Network in partnership with We the Action. This program provides trained volunteer lawyers to assist nonprofit organization understand how to take a comprehensive Risk Assessment of their organization. Natalie will also provide a refresher on AFJ’s Bolder Advocacy program to remind us of the types of free resource topics and technical assistance available for advocacy, lobbying, and nonpartisan Get-Out-The-Vote efforts.
