Please subscribe    / @tibettravelorg   The Guge Kingdom was a mysterious realm that stood proudly on the heights of western Tibet. From the 9th century, it flourished for more than 700 years, creating a brilliant culture before it suddenly disappeared, almost without a trace. Why did such a powerful kingdom collapse overnight? Some believe it was political struggles and religious conflicts from within. Others point to invasions from neighboring powers, extreme climate changes, or even a sudden plague that wiped out its people. To this day, the disappearance of Guge remains an unsolved mystery. What’s left behind are vast ruins covering nearly 180,000 square meters, blending seamlessly with the rugged earth forest around them. At first glance, it’s hard to tell what is castle and what is nature. Inside the remains, you can still find temples like the Red Temple, the White Temple, and the Reincarnation Hall, filled with vivid clay statues and colorful murals that have stood the test of time. History rises and falls, civilizations come and go. The Guge Kingdom may be long gone, but its traces remain — waiting for us to witness, to reflect, and to wonder.
