Once upon a time, there was a powerful king who ruled a large kingdom. One day, the king invited many guests to his palace for a grand feast. The royal cook worked very hard to prepare delicious dishes for the king and his guests. When the food was served, the king tasted one of the dishes and became very angry. He thought the food was not good and ordered the guards to punish the cook. The poor cook became very frightened. But before the guards could take him away, the cook respectfully said, “Your Majesty, please allow me to say one thing. A king should show patience and justice before giving punishment.” The king thought about the cook’s words for a moment. He realized that he had become angry too quickly without thinking carefully. The king felt ashamed of his behavior. He forgave the cook and said, “Today you have taught me an important lesson. A ruler must control his anger and always act with wisdom and fairness.” The cook was saved, and the king learned that true greatness comes from patience and justice. Moral: A wise person controls anger and listens before making a decision.
