While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. Pergamum: Reject doctrinal extremes. [Rev. 2: 10 NIV] “Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: You have people there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin by eating food sacrificed to idols and by committing sexual immorality. Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans.” 4. Thyatira: Remove impurity. [Rev. 2: 20 NIV] “Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.” • Don’t let your theology gravitate to your behavior. Let your behavior gravitate to your theology. 5. Sardis: Renew your purpose. [Rev. 3:2-3 NIV] “Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God.” 6. Philadelphia: Revere the Word of God. [Rev. 3:8 NIV] “…I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.” 7. Laodicea: Repent of lukewarmness. [Rev. 3:15-17 NIV] “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.” [Rev. 3:20 NIV] “Here I am!
