In its unabridged version, the last and perhaps most moving of Handel's oratorios. Harnoncourt's production is magnificent; he gives dramatic majesty to the choirs while at the same time obtaining from his singers a tense performance and a deepening of sensitivity that restore all the poignancy of the work. This recording contains some of the most beautiful Handel passages to be heard. Georg Friedrich Haendel PLAYLIST (reference recordings): • Georg Friedrich Haendel (1685-1759)
