Acting Police Minister Professor Firoz Cachalia says the damning allegations of corruption involving senior police officials at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry are deeply troubling and has urged the public to give the SAPS a chance to "reset". Cachalia also welcomed the deployment of the SANDF to Gauteng, the Western Cape and the Eastern Cape to help tackle organised crime and illegal mining, describing it as a necessary intervention. He was speaking on the sidelines of the SAPS' seventh National Golf Day Charity event in Kempton Park. The fundraiser, took place at the Serengeti Golf Estate on Friday, aims to support the children of officers who died in the line of duty.
