I think this rag is supposed to be about a big sparkling gemstone because on the original sheet music it has a picture of a diamond or other gem on it, but I chose it because on the 4th of July we use sparklers that I like to wave around in the air and draw patterns of light with in the darkness. So I thought it would be a good song for my 4th of July series. Unfortunately no matter how hard I tried I was unable to learn anything about the composer and his life. Many ragtime composers from the early 1900s, especially those who weren't as successful as well known composers like Scott Joplin or James Scott, have unfortunately been lost to history. If anyone watching this video can find information about Horace Smith Wilson or knows anything about him please let me know.
