www.keyetv.com Investigators say a woman and her dog were found dead at a Smithville home Wednesday night.Bastrop County Sheriffs Office investigators say the woman - identified as 35-year-old Barbara Devers- was found at around 6 p.m. at a home located at 179 Kellar Road. She was transported to the Travis County Medical Examiners Office where her cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma, the Sheriff's Office says. All these detectives and cops started showing up. They put on gloves and they go inside and they come running outside coughing, recalled Desiree Walt. She lives next door to the victim Barbara Devers.Walt says she remembers hearing screaming. I thought they were fighting again, she said. She quickly learned it was not an argumentThere's a lady outside she was just screaming and she couldn't say anything she was stuttering really bad and then she said she's dead, Walt said. The woman was found bleeding and not breathing. She'd been hit and beaten to death, her and her dog with a hammer, says Walt. The Bastrop Sheriff's Office is investigating but did not indicate they're looking for a suspect. In fact, they assured the public that no one is in danger.Walt says she knows why. They were asking when was the last time we seen his truck here, when he was there. She's referring to Devers' boyfriend. The two were heard fighting the night before. The victims' family told Walt the boyfriend was found dead from an apparent suicide. Walt says she's moving.I don't like the feeling of looking at that house knowing that something brutal happened to somebody who probably didn't deserve it. Nobody deserves that.Previous booking photo from the Williamson County Sheriff's Office.
